Step into the inspiring legacy of the Navarro family, hailing from Zaragoza, Spain—a lineage of multi-generational architects whose influence has shaped the very fabric of city centers and surrounding parks. Across five generations, luminaries like Felix and Miguel Angel Navarro, my great grandfather and grandfather, have left an indelible mark on the architectural landscape.
From the tender age of 15, architectural discourse was an intrinsic part of my upbringing, working in my uncle’s studio during summer vacations, meticulously copying plans with an ink pen. In the 1980s, I undertook the restoration of a ‘basilical masia’ stone farmhouse dating back to 1810 in Catalonia, Spain, immersing myself in the craft of masonry and honing invaluable skills.
In 1992, my journey took a creative turn as I produced an innovative inflatable theater and laserium for the Olympic Games in Barcelona. The pursuit of knowledge led me to India in 2008, where I completed courses in earth architecture at the UNESCO Chair for Earthen Architecture AEI in Auroville. This marked the beginning of a transformative venture—the “Bricks For Life Program.”
In 2009-10, alongside a dedicated team of earthen architects and 90 local workers, we materialized the vision of the “Rosa & Paco Navarro Library” in the Ganako Secondary School, Karatu, Tanzania. Now, I am fervently championing the philanthropic construction of a Girls Dormitory in Gyekrum Lambo, Karatu, Tanzania—a testament to my commitment to advancing education and sustainability.
My mission is clear: to continue designing and disseminating knowledge in earthen architecture as a philanthropic endeavor, uplifting schools and communities in need across Africa. In the spirit of giving back, I design buildings “pro bono” for NGOs in developing countries. Your support can amplify the impact of these endeavors.
